Meet the New Claudia in a First Look at Interview with the Vampire’s Second Season

It’s not a trailer—yet. But AMC+ has released a single scene from the second season of Interview with the Vampire, and of course it’s a scene that briefly introduces the actress now playing Claudia. Actress Bailey Bass was unable to return for season two, and so Delainey Hayles has stepped in. And in this clip, she’s wasting no time getting a bite to eat.

But Claudia, exuberant as she is, is not the real point here. The meat of this scene is a somewhat coy exchange between Louis (Jacob Anderson) and Armand (Assad Zaman), who are still just getting to know each other at this point. They’re in France; there’s havoc to wreak; Santiago (Ben Daniels) is out there Santiago-ing; and Armand basically just said “eat the rich” to his coven.

But Louis holds back, and so does Armand, and they have a little chat about that—and about Louis’ lack of skills when it comes to hiding his thoughts. He got weird when someone mentioned Lestat, Armand says. “Who?” Louis replies.

Ouch.

The first season of Interview ends with a bit of a cliffhanger, as Louis and Claudia dramatically parted ways with Lestat. Now they’re in France, making new friends. Showrunner Rolin Jones said, at AMC’s blog, “We’re going to Europe and Part 2 of the novel is Episode 1 of Season 2. So, we’re going there and we’re going to experience that. Then we’re going to Paris. We’re going to see what coven life is all about, and we have some more time than the movie or even the book.”

Coven life—and the second season of Interview with the Vampire—will come to your screens in 2024.

This post was written during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. Without the labor of the actors currently on strike, the series being covered here wouldn’t exist.
